10 Most Flamboyant Wrestling Characters That Made Fans Cringe
4. Shawn Michaels
Shawn Michaels is one of the most beloved pro wrestlers of all time. That fact cannot be denied, but he has been involved in some seriously cringeworthy antics over the years. Reading Bret Hart's autobiography makes it clear that he struggled to remain friendly with Shawn during the mid-1990's. According to Hart, a lot of wrestlers backstage were left dumbstruck by the way Michaels acted in front of fans. As the WWF Heavyweight Champion, the 'Heart Break Kid' was being relied upon to carry the company. The top babyface on the roster in 1996, Michaels later admitted he found the pressure to be too much for him. Flamboyance was a way of life for the man in front of cameras, but he did on occasion take things a little too far. Post-match, it wasn't uncommon to see Shawn threaten to strip out of his outfit entirely. In addition, he was prone to flashing his behind at audiences. For Bret Hart, this was too much, and it made Michaels hard for many - specifically heterosexual males - in the crowd to like. By the time Shawn posed for Playgirl magazine, the locker room couldn't believe it.
