7. Poorly Thought Out Releases

And so we go from returns to releases. But in this case, WWE's actions are far harder to understand.

Let's get the obvious one out of the way - R-Truth should never have been released. WWE's resident national treasure is beloved by both the crowd and damn near everyone in the locker room, and the people in charge had to have been entirely divorced from reality to think nobody would notice if he was released. Thankfully, those people changed their mind sharpish when they realised the depth of their mistake. R-Truth/Ron Killings is back on TV.

One person who won't be returning, however, is Carlito. The Puerto Rican superstar's departure may not have been as explosive as R-Truth's, but in terms of displaying the company's current storytelling weaknesses, it's arguably more potent.

Despite starting a will-they, won't-they romance with Raquel Rodriguez, Carlito was quietly dropped with nary an explanation.  Despite the storyline perfectly teeing up Carlito's departure - Raquel rejects Carlito, beats the crap out of him and powerbombs him through a table/off the stage - WWE inexplicably failed to follow through on the one-inch putt they'd set up.

The fact Carlito was simply let go with no closure to his run is a worrying indicator of WWE's increasingly blasé approach to hiring and firing its talent - not a great look for a company that's supposedly undergoing a renaissance boom period.
