As 'Stone Cold', Steve Austin became the biggest-grossing wrestler in history - not only did Austin sell tickets and draw in fans for television and Pay-Per-View, but he also had the number one selling t-shirt in pro wrestling history. A simple black design framed a simple message, 'Austin 3:16', a phrase coined by the man at the 1996 King Of The Ring. Back in WCW, Steve Austin went by the moniker of 'Stunning', and even though he was widely regarded by many as a superb in-ring mechanic, the guy didn't look like he was going to break on through to the riches the main event scene could afford. All of Steve Austin's frustrations are readily available to hear in his legendary 6-minute promo in ECW. In 1995, the future WWE Hall Of Famer was one pretty angry dude, something Paul Heyman felt could work in his favour. Letting loose on everyone from Eric Bischoff to Dusty Rhodes, Austin aired his passion for the wrestling business for all to see, and it would be by using that promo style that he made millions of dollars as 'Stone Cold'. Steve Austin was fired by FedEx by Eric Bishoff, something which stuck in his craw, and wouldn't really made the best first impression in the WWF either. Booked as 'The Ringmaster', and flanked by Ted DiBiase, Austin was fairly bland. It'd take years for him to reach the top, but once he did, it was more than worth the wait. Again, WCW's loss was definitely to the WWF's advantage. What other performers do you feel WCW missed out on by not pulling the trigger on a main event push?
