4. Sting And Triple H Give Us The Invasion We Always Wanted
As the years wore on since the fall of WCW, it became increasingly unlikely that the man called Sting would ever make an appearance in the WWE. While there was no known heat on the veteran performer from a political standpoint, Stings rapidly declining in-ring skills and his cushy status as the Icon of TNA/Impact Wrestling raised many questions as to what exactly the purpose of a jump would be so late in the game. Well - as it turns out - it was to give the WWE a final chance to book that dream Invasion encounter we never got in 2001. Nearly every person involved in Stings encounter with Triple H at WrestleMania 31 (and there were quite a few people involved) had to miss the infamous WWE invasion angle for one reason as another. While staging such an encounter some 14 years after the fact isnt exactly the ideal scenario, its hard to deny the pleasure of watching the icon of WCW with the NWO at his side vs. the WWEs golden boy flanked by D-Generation X. Each subsequent musical cue and run-in during this match only served to make the young wrestling fan in all of us poke their head out a little more to take in the spectacle. In many ways, this match feels like what would have happened if you gave a coalition of internet wrestling community fans full booking access to both the entire WCW roster in 2001 as well as a hefty supply of stimulants.
