Originally, The Ascension started out as a faction, one that included the likes of Ricardo Rodriquez, Raquel Diaz (the daughter of Eddie and Vickie Guerrero), Kenneth Cameron (Bram in TNA) and even Tito Colon, who is better known as Fernando of Los Matadores in WWE. By 2013, the group had splintered, and one of the other original members, Konnor would eventually be joined by Viktor, making The Ascension a tag-team on NXT. Many fans feel that the duo have regressed somewhat since being called up the main roster, but it's still early days for the Gothic unit. One thing is for certain, the creative team haven't thus far allowed Konnor and Viktor to show the kind of aggression and domination that was a hallmark of their work on NXT. Holding the NXT Tag-Team Titles for close to a full year is not to be sniffed at, WWE clearly saw something in them, and there are still hopes that The Ascension could follow in the footsteps of similar portrayals from tag-team history, such as The Roadwarriors or Demolition.
