10 Most Hated Wrestling Matches Involving Beloved Wrestlers
1. Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage Vs. Alliance To End Hulkamania (WCW Uncensored 1996)
Dusty Rhodes and Bobby Heenan chiming in with impassioned rambling as Tony Schiavone tries to explain the rules of the Doomsday Cage match is somehow the least chaotic part of what ensued.
While Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage made memories in WWE, the WCW incarnation of The Mega Powers is best forgotten. It’s hard to believe you could create a reviled match featuring Hogan, Savage, Ric Flair, and Arn Anderson…but peak WCW booking.
The cage structure had buckled and sagging floors which made it near impossible to wrestle on. From a home viewer's perspective, the structure was a visual nightmare with the action often obscured, and when the competitors got to the easier to film ring section the match was bathed in purple light.
The action inexplicably ended up outside the cage, down to the regular ring, and back to the encaged ring. Nobody appeared, despite Schiavone’s effort, to know the rules. The match’s death wasn’t even merciful. The Booty Man passed the faces frying pans that they used to take out the Alliance. A random Lex Luger turn allowed Savage to pin Flair. Fortunately, the legends involved have a body of work which pulls eyes away from this massacre.
