7. Wardlow
Big, sexy Wardlow is an interesting choice for this list.
His three biggest single matches to date in AEW have all ended in defeat, yet Wardlow has never felt like a loser. He lost to Cody in the first ever cage match, was beaten by a resurgent Hangman Page in the contenders' tournament and lost to Jericho thanks to MJF's botched interference.
Make no mistake about it, AEW have been very careful with ensuring that Wardlow is protected and to this day, he still works perfectly as the at times put upon difference-maker in MJF's corner.
Whilst The Pinnacle feels like a dead act since MJF and Chris Jericho decided to make their feud more personal, Wardlow's slow-burning face turn has been kept alive. His recent hesitation when Brian Pillman Jr. was beating the ever-loving crap out of MJF was superb character work and when the moment arrives at some point when he does bite back, it will have been wonderfully earnt.
In the meantime, Wardlow continues to rack up impressive wins on Dark and Dark: Elevation, but Wardlow's inclusion on this is more to do with his presentation in MJF's corner, and how dangerous he can be when he steps in and gets involved on his behalf.
