10 Most Heel Things John Cena Ever Did As A 'BabyFace'

2. The Gaybashing Against The Rock

One of the rare examples of the world at large calling Cena on his heelery, GLAAD, the LGBT-rights-promoting organisation actually stepped in to tell off John Cena and WWE for the excessive number of homophobic jokes Cena starting slinging during his very very long feud with The Rock. What kind of jokes were these you ask? How about these:

You left us high and dry to play a fairy with a tooth?

Just don't go racing to Witch Mountain, Rock, cause your mountain is Brokeback.

Do you really want to look back years from now and realize you shared your legacy with another man?! € Wait don€™t answer that.

Now The Miz and Alex Riley are co-champions and to celebrate it they're going to move in together. They're going to buy one of those tandem bikes and ride to bed bath and beyond to buy some duvets. And every evening they're going to relax with a glass of warm piot noir and watch The Notebook, or reruns of last season's Bachelor. ... You want to be a mentor and train him? Well, tonight I'm going to train you on how to be a man.

You could argue that this was just Cena reverting to his Thug Life persona, but the price of progress is that some jokes get way less cool with time. After all, implying that gay men aren't real men is not exactly in line with the whole Be A Star anti-bullying campaign, and GLAAD's intervention forced Cena (role model to millions of kids, right?) to put the kibosh on his slurs.

Moral of the story: Gay people are different, and therefore funny.
