FMW

During a contest on October 22, 2001, FMW ace Hayabusa would suffer a career-ending injury after going for a springboard moonsault off the middle rope. Hayabusa would lose his footing, landing directly on his head and cracking two of his vertebrae. The shock injury rendered him paralysed.

The injury lead to a major fever developing and required major surgery. Considered the leading and most vital performer in the FMW promotion, Hayabusa’s absence crippled the company and they folded in February, 2002.

Hayabusa would pursue various ambitions after his injury from a career as a singer to forming his own wrestling promotion to a critically acclaimed turn in stage acting to his involvement in the resurrection of FMW in 2015.

Hayabusa would eventually be able to walk again with the assistance of a cane. In March 2016, Hayabusa would pass away due to a cerebral haemorrhage.

A pioneer in the high-flying genre of professional wrestling, Hayabusa has been cited as a major influence over the years by the likes of A.J. Styles, Jack Evans, Kalisto, PAC and Chris Jericho.
