Before she became the face of The Authority, Stephanie McMahon debuted in the WWE as the sweet and innocent daughter of Vince McMahon and soon found herself embroiled in the McMahon family dramas. She was a big part of one of the most memorable storylines of the era, in which she was kidnapped by The Undertaker and very nearly forced to marry The Phenom before Steve Austin saved the day. From there she would engage in an on-screen romance with Test that eventually gave birth to the McMahon-Helmsley era that fans of todays product will be more than familiar with. During this period she even managed to become the Womens Champion, despite not being an in-ring performer, and was pretty much an ever-present on WWE programming during a period where the soap opera aspect was almost as important as the in-ring action. Stephanie embodied something a little bit different to the other Divas in that she had actual power to wield, especially during the end of the Monday Night Wars. Furthermore she could also be trusted as one of the few performers who would never make the jump to WCW, for obvious reasons, which probably explains why she quickly became such a prominent part of the WWEs programming during the period.
