10 Most Important Superstars On The Road To WWE Summerslam 2014
5. Bray Wyatt
The charismatic Bray Wyatt has fascinated WWE fans ever since he first appeared on our screens with his enigmatic persona. After a long-term feud with Daniel Bryan put Wyatt well and truly on the map, he has since been feuding with the company's biggest fish, John Cena. The feud has been creatively written and the collision of the two personalities has been essential viewing for wrestling fans. Victories over Mr Cena in today's WWE environment should not be taken lightly, and so Bray's cage match win at Extreme Rules serves to cement Wyatt as a key figure in the company both today and in the years to come. The Bray Wyatt character and the level of innovation that is going into his feud with Cena should be applauded, and it will be very interesting to see who emerges victorious from the Last Man Standing match at Payback. Those familiar with the WWE product might realistically expect the winner to be Cena, but is there a way that this feud will extend beyond Payback and into Summerslam? The big question mark hanging over Bray Wyatt at this time is his positioning as a heel. During an era that WWE encourages fan participation at its shows (and is consequently enjoying the greatest level of crowd interactivity since the Attitude Era), Bray Wyatt is second only to Daniel Bryan in the enthusiasm and response he draws from fans. Whether it be the lights during the darkness of his entrance or singing along with man himself, there is no doubt that in the fans' eyes, Bray Wyatt is over. WWE legend Jim Ross recently raised the question himself over how fans are meant to respond to the character, and suggested that the enthusiasm shown for Bray is not just the result of being pitted against John Cena, a figure who large portions of the WWE crowd have traditionally rebelled against. Perhaps a feud with another superstar, either before or after Summerslam, will tell us more about the direction of WWE's most compelling character.
