10 Most Important Superstars On The Road To WWE Summerslam 2014
4. John Cena
For a man who boasts a Summerslam record of matches against the likes of Edge, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Batista, CM Punk, and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, it is fair to say that John Cena is synonymous with big matches on the Summerslam stage. At the beginning of his feud with Bray Wyatt, Cena himself spoke on Raw of his excitement about the new breed of superstars coming through the ranks in WWE. With the feud with Wyatt still raging on, the question must be asked about whether the feud will continue through to Summerslam or if it will culminate at one of the three pay-per-views prior to it. After his feud with Bray is over, there are a number of directions for Cena. The much-maligned superstar has actually taken part in many of the classic matches of WWE's modern era, and so his propensity for big shows and big matches should not be questioned. As Cena has been out of the title picture for a relatively long time given how he is generally utilised by the company, it may not be too far a stretch of the imagination to assume that he may well find himself in a match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship around about Summerslam time or thereabouts. Could a rematch of last year's Summerslam main event against Daniel Bryan be in the pipeline? Were Cena to win the title again, or even if he doesn't, there are many new feuds available to him in terms of the rising stars of the company, and if his work with Bray Wyatt thus far is anything to go by, the company's top man should play an instrumental part in the rise of WWE's new generation during the coming months and beyond.
