4. Shawn Michaels
WWE.comShawn Michaels might be the best overall wrestler in the history of WWE. In terms of having the best matches on the biggest stage with a wide variety of opponents there are few that can ever touch him. A lot of WWE fans would say he's the best ever. That's something I'd agree with too, but that doesn't make him the most important star in Raw history. When Raw started in 1993 he was a rising star that was going to be a main eventer, but he wasn't there yet. His rivalry with former partner Marty Jannetty in 1993 was arguably the best of that year and produced some classic matches on Raw. As he rose to the level of top guy in 1996 his performances kept getting better. The DX run to end 1997 was amazing because it showed another side of him. Then a serious back injury derailed his career in 1998 and we thought he was never going to wrestle again. The comeback in 2002 wasn't expected to last eight years, but when it did the people that benefitted the most were the fans. We were treated to so many memorable moments by Michaels, who was a changed man and largely played a babyface on TV except for a month long feud with Hulk Hogan in 2005. He proved that even in his 40s he was as good as any wrestler alive. That's why so many of us consider him the best in-ring performer ever. Since Michaels was never a Smackdown guy and he was on Raw for the first five years of the show that means he spent 13 years as a regular on Monday nights. There are few guys that can touch him in that regard. He's definitely one of the most important stars in the history of Raw.
