10 Most Infamous Wrestling Losing Streaks

5. Heath Slater

Heath Slater, headliner of WWE SummerSlam 2010, has been subjected to two of the most lengthy losing streaks in company history.

Between August 16, 2011 and January 23, 2012, the man - who wasn't too far removed from a position of semi-seriousness - went 27 matches without tasting victory. To put that into perspective, it almost doubled the defeat count amassed by Alex Riley, who by then had been swatted by John Cena on the nose with newspaper en route to a prolonged stint in the doghouse.

Upon breaking the hex, Slater, to his credit, fully embraced his new WWE role. Only ever a pretty good hand, with a deeply ingratiating hick brogue, the southern like of which is famously loathed by his employer, he instead ratcheted up his inherent obnoxiousness. He knew that sole main event appearance was an aberration. In becoming so eminently unlikable, Slater ensured that, if he was going to lose, he was going to lose to the best.

His angle with various WWE legends in the lead up to RAW's 1000th episode on July 23, 2012 is as fondly remembered as Mae Young's grown up hand on the show itself.
