5. The Shield

Debuting at the top of the card, tearing through the entire roster for two years and cut short whilst still in their prime, The Shield may be WWE's biggest creative success story this decade.

Fiercely protected as a group for virtually their entire run, the longstanding developmental talents Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins were a revelation on a stagnant WWE roster when they arrived at 2012's Survivor Series.

Meshing Ambrose's crazy demeanour with Rollins' acrobatic skill and Reigns' brute strength, the triumvirate had every tool at their disposal, and invariably worked as an impenetrable unit against outmatched and outnumbered foes.

Dominating from the off, they took down Ryback, Kane, Daniel Bryan, The Rock, The Big Show, Sheamus, Randy Orton and even The Undertaker in their first sixth months on the roster, scoring Tag Team and US Title Gold shortly after.

As well as going man-for-man in absorbing wars with The Wyatt Family, months of doing Triple H's dirty work resulted in complacency from 'The Game' and a wild feud with his reborn Evolution stable.

Conclusively defeating Hunter, Orton and Batista, The Shield were at the top of the mountain when Rollins 'bought in' to The Authority, turning on both Ambrose and Reigns to prematurely (and bravely) separate the group.
