6. The Dudley Boyz

Working as a threesome during the mainstream peak of the wrestling industry, the cluttered ECW Dudley clan would be refined by WWE to include Bubba, D-Von and Spike in 2001 following the latter's arrival from the deceased Philadelphia outfit.

Having established themselves as key fixtures on WWE's roster for the prior eighteen months, The Dudley Boyz were suddenly outnumbered when their tag rivals employed third wheels in the run-up to WrestleMania 17's historic 'TLC2' encounter.

With Edge and Christian introducing Rhyno to the fold and the fearless Lita's flanking of The Hardy Boyz, Spike was a shock inclusion to the Dudley clan, not least because of his diminutive size in a company that still favoured stature over skill.

Taking frightening risks for the cause as he had in ECW, Spike was an immediate hit, and added flavour to Bubba and D-Von's act.

Despite the three reverting to type and briefly feuding during the Alliance/WWE split in 2001, Spike and Bubba would work consistently together on Raw following the 2002 Brand Extension, and all three would remain together throughout 2003 and 2004 until their final appearance as a group at 2005's ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view.
