The Cerebral Assassin's herculean body was falling apart at a rather alarming rate in 2002/03. He'd come back from a serious quadriceps tear looking bigger and more muscular than ever. Obviously, putting that amount of pressure on his already fragile frame was never going to lead to anything good. The game seemed to suffer a new haematoma every week during this period and it was seriously effecting his performances. He 'couldn't' drop the title to Goldberg at SummerSlam 03 because he seriously injured his groin (for which he had to wear some unsightly cycling shorts during matches). Triple H took several months off in the summer of 2005 to deal with many nagging injuries, including issues with his neck (he also had neck problems in 2010). In 2007, he tore his other quadriceps muscle (which caused a totally OTT Stephanie to break down with a comical 'NOOOOOOOOO!' backstage). He's also suffered injuries to his bicep, his knees, his elbows, throat and back over the years. One of the main reasons Triple H has become a special events only performer over the years is that his body, after over twenty years of hard bumping, simply cannot take the stress any more.
