10 Most Insane Demands Wrestlers Ever Made
5. Hulk Hogan's Elaborate WCW Contract
The ins and outs of Hulk Hogan's contract with WCW make for fascinating reading, and they show just how coveted the Hulkster was to Ted Turner and other top brass in the company. By 1998, four years after his arrival, Hulk was ruling the roost with some seriously over-the-top demands.
Highlights included a $2 million bonus for signing an extension to his current deal, a 25% agreement giving him quarter of the ticket gross for Nitro, Thunder or live events (with a minimum guarantee of $25,000), 15% of the revenue from pay-per-view events he worked and a nifty $20,000 just for wearing nWo-branded merchandise on TV.
Hulk Hogan: master of getting the best deal.
That wasn't all. The contract stipulated that Hulk would have “approval over the outcome of all wrestling matches in which he appears". In other words, he had complete creative control over what he did, earned bucketloads of cash from company coffers and was still able to make personal appearances outside WCW's time.
