The main event of the May 17 Payback PPV was Seth Rollins defending the WWE Title against Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton in a fatal fourway. It was the first time where Rollins was in a match with both Reigns and Ambrose where one pinfall determined the winner. While the outcome was predictable with Rollins getting the win to retain the WWE Title, it was a moment within the match that fans remember the most. The three former Shield members worked together to do their patented Triple Powerbomb spot on Randy Orton that drove him through the announce table. The crowd went wild for it because it was about a year earlier when The Shield broke up, so seeing a familiar spot like that was a welcome sight. There was also a funny moment because Rollins put his fist in front of him while wanting the other two to do the same, but they wanted none of that because they were still mad at Rollins for turning heel on them. The match continued on from that point, but that Powerbomb spot was definitely one of the highlights of this year.
