10 Most Memorable WWE Raw Moments From 1996

9. Raw Changes Its Start Time

Date: April 8th One of the biggest "weapons" WCW had during the Monday Night War was the fact that Ted Turner not only owned the company, but he also owned the networks the show was airing on. That meant the company could basically do whatever they wanted, and one of their biggest tricks was going on the air a couple minutes earlier than Raw did, trying to hook viewers in. They would come on at 8:57 (sometimes 8:55), then deliver something that fans would want to see, so when 9:00 rolled around, those fans would still be watching Nitro instead of switching over to Raw. Before long, Raw couldn't keep going on late, so they requested, and were granted, an earlier start time. They, too, would be going on the air at 8:57, and both Raw and Nitro were off to the races. Both shows began to improve their product, and it was this small move, answering a shot from WCW, that helped to make it happen.
