6. Steve Austin & Shawn Michaels VS Owen Hart & The British Bulldog
Date: May 26th This was still very early in the face days for Steve Austin, and he was very much in his "don't trust anybody" phase. He didn't just turn face and become super friendly with other faces, in what was a nice touch. His pairing with Shawn Michaels was done out of a "we both hate the same people" line of thinking, but it was clear they didn't really like each other, either. A definite "Television Match Of The Year" candidate, along with the next entry on this list, this match featured a crowd that was red hot for anything that was going on, as were most crowds back then when it came to the Austin/Michaels VS Hart Foundation feud. All four men had their proverbial "working boots" on here, and the match was built upon a tried-and-true tag team formula... heel team works one of the faces over until the hot tag can be made to the other face. The "face-in-peril" here was Michaels, and once the tag was made to Austin, the crowd went bonkers. In the ensuing bedlam, Michaels would hit Bulldog with Sweet Chin Music, allowing Austin to get the pin. There were new WWF Tag Team Champions, but as soon as the match ended, Austin rolled out to avoid an attack by the entire Hart Foundation, who were beating Michaels down in the ring. Austin looked to make the save, but that's when he looked to the stage and noticed that Bret Hart was standing there, all by himself, still injured from the aforementioned Street Fight attack on his leg. Instead of saving his tag partner, Austin went after Bret, and the crowd nearly blew the roof off the place. Just another stop on the wonderful journey that was Steve Austin going from The Ringmaster to one of the biggest stars in wrestling history.
