5. Owen Hart vs The British Bulldog To Crown First European Champion
Date: March 3rd It was a unique scenario. The WWF Tag Team Champions would be battling against each other in singles competition, facing off in the tournament final to crown the very first European Champion, with Raw actually taking place in Europe (Berlin, Germany to be exact). Both men were known to have the ability to "bring it" in matches, but there was so much more on the line here. The singles title, the rowdy European crowd, and the battle (in and out of kayfabe) to see who was the better wrestler in their team all took their involvement to another level. They responded with a 25-minute classic, putting on perhaps the best match in Raw history to that point, and a match that still remains one of the best the show has ever seen. It was such a back-and-forth technical affair, and something that wasn't regularly seen on WWF television at the time, in an era of shorter matches featuring bigger, less technical performers. Alright, so that last part hasn't really changed too much through the years, but that doesn't change what this match delivered. Many feel this is Bulldog's best match, even better than his match against Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1992. This one didn't have as much on the line as that one did, of course, but it was smoother, with less awkward spots, so the battle will continue to rage on.
