4. Steve Austin Throws The Rock's Title Into A River
Date: December 15th Steve Austin vs The Rock. One of the most legendary feuds wrestling has ever seen. It was also one of those feuds that featured some really good and entertaining matches, but is probably better known for the segments, promos and overall moments shared between the two. One of the most memorable moments they ever had was on this cold December night. Austin successfully defended his Intercontinental Title the night before, at the In Your House pay-per-view, defeating Rock. On Raw, Vince McMahon demanded that Austin defend the title against Rock again, but Austin wasn't exactly feeling like doing what Vince told him to do (surprise, surprise). He said that he's going to forfeit the title to Rock instead, because he wants to go after the WWF Title instead. After he hands the belt over, he delivers a Stunner to Rock, steals the belt, and says to wait a week to see what his next move is. The following week, Austin would appear on a bridge somewhere near Raw's host city for the week (Durham, New Hampshire). He proceeded to cut a great promo, telling Rock that if he wanted his title, he would have to take some things to find it... a mask, snorkel, oxygen tank, flippers, and then a pager to let Austin know when he found it... and then he throws the title from the bridge and into the icy cold water below. It made for incredible television, and it made you want to continue tuning in to see what would come next, which is the entire point.
