10 Most Misused Wrestlers In WWE History

1. Dusty Rhodes

How he was used: A fat dancing man.

How he should have been used: The everyman. The son of a plumber in all of us.

Vince McMahon could have brought in Dusty Rhodes as a legend. He could have mentioned his years in the business, and made it seem like they picked up the best free agent out there. Rhodes was, after all, one of the most famous wrestlers on the planet at that point, and had millions of fans. People knew who this guy was.

If the company didn’t want to acknowledge that, at least give him a similar gimmick to what got him over and let him go from there. It didn't happen.

Vince never admitted it, but it seems likely that he was trying to punish Dusty for all the years he competed against him. Or at least he wanted to show him who had all the power now. So instead of main event matches against Hulk Hogan, or cast as the No. 2 babyface in the company, Dusty was given Sapphire as a manager, dressed up in polka dots and portrayed as a mid-card goofball.

Money and time well spent!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
