With his loss to Dean Ambrose via roll-up in the main-event of SmackDown - a solid outing that left the audience wanting plenty more - John Cena has now lost every meaningful match that he has been in since returning from injury. As he was out of action right after Hell in a Cell last year, came back only briefly, and then had surgery on his shoulder shortly after the New Year, Cena has actually not won a meaningful match (i.e. a match with considerable stakes) since last year's Night of Champions.

While SmackDown has been met with heaps of praise since the brand split, some justifiably took issue with Cena being gifted a title shot like it was a lifetime achievement award last week. However, the image of the Golden Boy sitting on the SmackDown ramp having just lost yet again when the spotlight was brightly shining upon him - an image eerily similar to the camera shot of him on the WrestleMania stage after he lost to The Rock in Miami - creates a new level of intrigue for Cena's character, purposeful on WWE's part or not.

The match itself was fairly skippable, but the moments at the end and immediately after the match are must-see.
