Story: It's incredible to imagine, but WWE reportedly had the idea of Floyd Mayweather vs. Big Show originally taking place under tag-team rules. Details are sketchy, but it appears Oscar De La Hoya and Rey Mysterio were tentatively planned to be involved somehow, although De La Hoya would end up saying he wasn't interested. Instead, Mayweather went toe-to-toe with Big Show is a massive boxing vs. wrestling crossover match, and it'd be the much smaller purveyor of the sweet science who would leave with his hand raised, knocking out the giant with a flurry of pretty real looking strikes. As the story goes, Show was less than thrilled with Mayweather's refusal to properly pull his punches, and some of the shots landed hard on his face, breaking his nose. This even happened before the fight at 'Mania, during a hype segment at No Way Out 2008. Why People Believe It: It's clear just from watching the segment that Mayweather landed a few punches on the face of Big Show for real at No Way Out. The giant had a bloody nose, and it seems the boxer knew he had gone too far, running from the ring quickly after the strikes as Big Show gave chase. Should We Believe It: Yes, it's obvious that Big Show would have been enraged by being peppered hard with punches and embarrassed by Mayweather. To his credit, the incident at No Way Out didn't deter the wrestler from delivering the result WWE desired at WrestleMania, doing the job in the worked match to the undefeated slugger.
