The Legend: That Eddie Guerrero is the inventor the oft-imitated Frog Splash. Why People Believe It: The main reason is because Eddie used the Frog Splash as his finishing move from the early 90s. Who used the move before him? Whilst several wrestlers, most notably Jimmy Snuka, had used a big flying splash, nobody (in America at least) had used this version of it before. But the move had been used elsewhere and Eddie wasn't the first person to do it. Many believe that Eddie's Los Gringos Locos partner Art Barr came up with the move and that Eddie performed it in tribute to his partner following Art's death in 1994 but the fact is that Art actually borrowed the move from Eddie in the first place. So who used the move before Eddie did? La Fiera, one of the best Mexican wrestlers of the 1980s, was the first person to perform the move. According to Eddie's RF Video shoot interview, La Fiera (along with Rob Van Dam) had the prettiest Frog Splash he'd ever seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBO9hyahVSg Is It True: No, it's not true. Eddie may have popularised the Frog Splash (which, incidentally, was a term coined by Too Cold Scorpio) but he wasn't the first person to do it. That distinction goes to the criminally underrated La Fiera.
