8. He Intentionally Put In A Poor Performance At ECW One Night Stand
The Legend: That Eddie purposefully entered a shoddy performance during his highly-anticipated match with Chris Benoit at the original ECW One Night Stand PPV. Why People Believe It: Well, their match wasn't anywhere near as it could have been, for a start. Clearly thrown off by the crowd ignoring the match (they were too busy chanting towards Eric Bischoff, Edge and the other WWE wrestlers) Eddie took a breather early on to regain his composure. When he did get back in the ring, he didn't seem to be feeling it as much as he usually did, which was odd since this was a big PPV match against one of his best friends and favourite opponents. Reports circulated after the show that Eddie was unhappy with having to do a job so soon after his amazing heel turn and under-performed in protest. Eddie can't have been happy about the crowd's (lack of) reaction and the large cut he suffered on his nose, either. There was noticeable tension between Eddie and Benoit after the match (Eddie can be seen mouthing the words 'I owe you one' to The Crippler) and the two men also had heated words backstage. Is It True: Only two people, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, will ever know for sure. Did Eddie have an off night? Possibly, but it's worth remembering that Eddie was in constant agony during the last year of his life and could have just been holding back due to injuries. Besides, the match wasn't as bad as some people make out and was still one of the best on the show.
