10 Most Notorious Goldberg Urban Legends

6. He Was Very Difficult To Work With In WCW

The Legend: That Goldberg developed a horrible ego during his time in WCW and was increasingly difficult to work with. The Evidence: Bill Goldberg became a huge star, very quickly. Coming from the world of professional football and fresh out of WCW training school The Power Plant, he wasn't exactly equipped to deal with the backstage politics that were rife in the company at that time. Goldberg apparently became very guarded and protective of his image and character. To a lot of people, it looked like he was developing a huge ego. Chris Jericho has commented how Goldberg used to walk around 'thinking that his s*** didn't stink' and that he refused to do a programme with him because he felt it was beneath him. A lot of former stars, such as Eric Bischoff, have come out and said that the wrong people might have gotten into Goldberg's ear and given him the wrong advice. Is It True: While Goldberg might have had a bit of an ego and been difficult to work with at one point, it's very clear from listening to interviews with wrestlers and hearing him talk on his podcast that he's a good guy who just didn't know how to handle his situation very well. WCW was in chaos from 98 onwards and Goldberg, still new to the business, had to take it all in and try to deal with it while the rest of the politicians were trying to play him. Goldberg's a good guy, from most accounts. Speaking to Back Sports Page this year, Goldberg said that there probably was resentment for him getting such a good spot but:
The fact that I wasn€™t on my high horse or calling my own shots made me a little different from others. From the beginning all the way to the end, 99% of the time I would do anything anybody had asked of me within the wrestling business. The reason for that is they knew more about it then I did...As long as things are logical and I protect my character then I would do it. That€™s truly the most important thing.
He doesn't seem like much a backstage politician, does he?
