7. He Deliberately Sabotaged His WrestleMania XX Match With Brock Lesnar
The Legend: That Goldberg, deeply frustrated with how his WWE run turned out, deliberately sabotaged his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX, his last for the company. The Evidence: Well, the mach wasn't very good. Knowing full-well that both men were on their way out of the company, the MSG fans turned on the match and it fell apart from there. The two had a match riddled with communication problems and their hearts clearly weren't in it. It took them three whole minutes to even lock up. Then they stared each other down some more. Then they locked up again as the boos reigned down. It got worse from there and some people figured that Goldberg had had enough and was deliberately half-assing it. Is It True: No, it isn't. Goldberg wasn't sabotaging the match but neither he nor Lesnar wanted to be there and, when the crowd turned on the match with chants like 'this match sucks' and began booing it out of the building, they got mad. Speaking about the match, Goldberg states that:
I thought he was gonna try to kill me and I wanted to kill him at the same time, but for real. Because we were so mad at what was going on, we just didnt have anything else to do but beat on each other...I love Brock to death. Hes one of my best friends in the business and..let me rephrase thathes one of my only friends in the business, and you know it was a shame. You had two absolute physical monsters with great characters going against each other and it turned out to be a st-fest.
So, no, Goldberg didn't deliberately stink out the joint, it was just a bad day at the office. He and Lesnar are still friends, as evidenced by the pictures of the two taken backstage at UFC events.
