10 Most Notorious Hulk Hogan Urban Legends

8. He Was Supposed To Wrestle John Cena At WrestleMania 25

cena hoganStory: Hogan was apparently negotiating with WWE to return to the company for WrestleMania 25 in Houston in 2009. Due to a number of injuries to his back, hip and knees it didn't end up happening. Here's how Hogan explained it in a lawsuit against the company that performed back surgery on him: "The people who worked on my back, Laser Spine, said I didn't need a fusion. So they cut on my back one time and I felt pretty good after a couple of weeks. I called Vince McMahon and said, 'Man I'm good to go, let's do this deal.' So we started planning, then suddenly I was like, 'Ah, ah, my back!' That put the deal on hold." Since Hogan wasn't cleared to wrestle, the deal never happened. With WWE no longer showing interest in him, he moved on to TNA Wrestling in October 2009 and he was there for the next four years.
Why People Believe It: In early 2009 Cena really didn't have anything going on. It seemed like WWE was waiting on Hogan. When they got word that Hulk wasn't going to be able to wrestle, Cena was put into a triple threat match with Edge & Big Show for the World Title. It was the second year in a row that Cena was in a triple threat after having been in one with Randy Orton and Triple H one year earlier. Should We Believe It: Yes. It made sense that WWE would want to put Hogan against Cena at the 25th WrestleMania if he was healthy. It would have been a huge match.
