10 Most Notorious JBL Urban Legends

4. He Only Got A Main Event Push Because Triple H 'Didn't Want To Work Tuesdays'

The Legend: That JBL was only made WWE Champion in 2004 because Triple H didn't want to be drafted to Smackdown. Why People Believe It: Most of the fuel to this fire comes from Paul Heyman saying it during his worked shoot promo at One Night Stand in 2005. Heyman flat-out said that 'the only reason you became champion is because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays!'. It's a great line, but what did he mean? Triple H was drafted to Smackdown in April 2004, however Eric Bischoff was so desperate to have him back on Raw that he offered Smackdown the Dudley Boys and Booker T for his safe return. However, this was just a storyline (and a way to make The Game look the equal of three men). There were no reports of Triple H being moved over to the blue brand (for real) in 2004. Is It True: No, but it is funny. JBL actually got the top spot because Angle, Lesnar and Big Show all disappeared from WWE, meaning Eddie Guerrero had no major heel to feud with (and his friendships with WWE higher ups). It really highlighted the lack of roster depth at the time but JBL wasn't complaining: he won the WWE Title and worked on top for the next two years.
