The Legend: That Kevin Nash got Carl Ouellet, who wrestled as Jean-Pierre Lafitte, fired from WWE in 1995. Why People Believe It: Nash and the former Quebeccer had some issues when Nash was riding high as WWE Champion. The two men had a series of matches for Nash's title on the road in Canada, Ouellet refused to take a loss in Montreal via the Jacknife as planned and the finish was changed to a double count-out, instead. The following evening in Quebec, Ouellet landed badly on Nash when he came off the top with a leg drop, turning their match into a semi-shoot. Nash stiffed him and this time finished him off with the powerbomb. The two men reportedly almost came to blows backstage after and Ouellet was an enemy of the Kliq from that point on. Here's how he described it in a 2013 interview:
Kevin Nash was having a big run and was being cocky about it. I didnt like the fact that Nash came up to me and said, next month in Montreal in your hometown, youre going down with the jackknife, and things like that. It got under my skin, and it was a scratch kinda fight and we brought it into the ring. Thats what happened, and it escalated into a real fight in the ring and it was just crazy, crazy and hard to deal with.
It seems like a combustible situation, but did Nash have a hand in securing the pirate's pink slip? Is It True: The Kliq's influence no doubt played a part but the fact is that Jean-Pierre Latiff just wasn't catching on. He and Nash buried the hatchet while both were working in WCW and actually worked a programmed together in Canada in 2009 (Nash put Ouelett over, no questions asked).
