4. He Claimed Wrestling Died When Benoit And Eddie Won World Titles

The Legend: That Kevin Nash claimed 'wrestling died' when Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero won the WWE's World Titles in 2004. Why People Believe It: Because he said it! During an in-depth Grantland.com piece, Nash said the following:
When Benoit and Guerrero hugged , that was the end of the business. Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two f***ing guys that were great workers that were the same height as the f***ing referees, and I'm sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch d***? Even if you're not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch d***. That's not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion.
It's a pretty bold opinion, to be sure and, while business was on the downturn at that time, it cannot all be attributed to Benoit and Guerrero as champions, since there were major issues with the all-around product. Is It True: It's right there in black and white. Nash's comments caused many in the wrestling world to publicly respond and defend smaller wrestlers, including Chris Jericho, MVP, Roddy Piper and Eddie's brother Chavo Sr.
