10 Most Notorious Sting Urban Legends

10. The Singer Sting Hates That He Uses The Same Name

Sting And StingStory: If you think about the most famous wrestlers ever they have easily recognizable names that make them stand out. Even non wrestling fans know who Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant and Ric Flair are. In Sting's case, if you tell somebody you're going to see Sting at an arena the first name they might think of is the singer Sting. The singer Sting (real name Gordon Sumner) is 63 years old, he has Sting.com as his website and has been a musician since the early 1970s with his big break coming with The Police. It was about ten years later when the wrestler Sting (Steve Borden) broke through as a blonde haired babyface with face paint with the National Wrestling Alliance. Both men went on to be huge names in their industries. Chances are if you ask a stranger who Sting is they will mention the singer not the wrestler, but it also depends on who you ask. Why People Believe It: It's weird that two celebrities would go by the same stage name, so there's definitely a chance that there would be some issues between them. Should We Believe It: No. There really isn't a lot of info out there as far as a connection with them other than a few photos and the fact that they share the same stage name. In terms of legal issues, there would only be problems if Sting the wrestler tried to sing some songs using that name and that's not going to happen. Both guys are successful in their fields of work, so we're guessing that neither one has a problem with the name. Then again, they would both probably like to be the only famous Sting in the world. The musician Sting is really rich while the wrestler Sting is a millionaire too, so both are probably fine with it.
