2. Diesel vs. Bob Backlund - WWF 1994
Title changes at house shows used to be something of a common occurrence. By the mid-90s though, that trend had pretty much ceased to exist. But in November of 1994, we saw an exception to that rule, as Diesel took on Bob Backlund at the Garden. After winning the title at Survivor Series 1994, Backlund would drop the strap to Diesel just three days later behind closed doors. Furthermore, it all went down in just 8 seconds. The match literally consisted of nothing more than a powerbomb and a pinfall, meaning the title change was even quicker than some of todays Money in the Bank cash-ins. As a result, Backlunds reign has since become perhaps the most iconic incidence of a transitional champion in memory. The fact that this match has gained such notoriety despite taking place in the supposed privacy of a house show is a testament to the sheer oddness of the occasion.
