But storming to first place in this list we have the infamous Fingerpoke of Doom debaclecited by many as the final nail in the WCW coffin. And yes it came in WCW, but it had fairly significant ramifications for the WWE and its future, not least the simple fact that it was able to have a future at the expense of WCW. The match itself lasted one minute and 41 seconds, but involved no more than a couple of shoves and that most fatal of finishers, the dreaded Fingerpoke. This was of course part of the nWo reunion angle, though that whole storyline was unfortunately as ineffectual as the match that set it up in the first place. While its an over-simplification to blame the demise of WCW on this incident alone, it could certainly be considered a contributing factor. For the simple consequences of this match, and the fact that it essentially confirmed what many people thought in that WCW was a sinking ship, this has to go down as the most notorious squash match in history.
