10 Most Obscure Wrestling References In Hip Hop Songs

1. Westside Gunn - No "Vacancy"

"Rest in peace Vino, rest in peace Kino, the Spiegel, the seagulls, April fresh ego. Slam you on your neck like Bruno Sammartino."

Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine and Benny The Butcher, also known as Griselda, have really captured the attention of hardcore hip-hop fans around the world. While the trio are known for their vivid descriptions of street life in Buffalo, New York, they've also managed to add a slew of wrestling references into their music.

On "No Vacancy," the second song on Westside Gunn's third studio album Pray for Paris, the rapper shows his old school wrestling knowledge by throwing in a reference to former WWWF World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, Bruno Sammartino.

While it might seem like a cute, off the cuff reference to a wrestling great, there's an actual story behind this particular bar. Sammartino was once scooped up for a body slam by fellow WWE Hall of Famer, Stan Hansen, and dropped him straight on his neck, breaking it in the process and nearly ending his career.
