10 Most One-Sided Brutal Beatdowns In UFC History
2. Anderson Silva Vs. Forrest Griffin - UFC 101
There are plenty of words that can be used to classify Anderson Silva's performance against Forrest Griffin, but the most accurate way to describe it would be as a flawless victory. The longtime UFC middleweight champion was at his very best in this fight, playing with Griffin like a child does with its food.
Despite the former UFC light-heavyweight champion showing his trademark aggression from the very beginning, Silva took him out like a matador dodging an onrushing bull. Once the Brazilian had established his range, he dropped his hands and dodged whatever Griffin threw at him like they were in The Matrix and he was Neo. While Silva's defensive performance was outstanding, his offense was even more impressive.
Silva landed vicious counters that put Griffin straight on his backside. It was during these moments that Griffin realised that he wasn't on the same level as the then 185lb title-holder. In typical self-deprecating fashion, Griffin spoke about the fight afterwards and explained how out of depth he felt facing arguably the greatest fighter in mixed martial arts history. At least he was honest.
