In 1984, after arriving in a small town in Wisconsin, Ken Patera went to McDonald’s but was turned away. He was told the store was closed even though there were customers inside eating. Patera, being famished after performing and spending hours on the road, pled with the worker. He even offered $50 for six hamburgers, only to be refused again.

Then someone threw a rock through the McDonald’s window. The attendant claims it was Patera, while Patera claims a disgruntled former employee who had been fired by the store threw the stone and ran off, something no one else saw.

Later that night, two police officers arrived at their hotel and knocked on Saito’s door looking for Patera. Saito, because he's a wrestler in the '80s, became incensed that the officers had disturbed him. Just as Saito's ire rose, Patera exited his room to see what was happening and all hell broke loose.

Fists began to fly, both wrestlers were maced, both officers were beaten to a pulp, and one even had their leg broken. Reportedly, 16 state troopers arrived and were summarily pummeled. Until Patera finally came to his senses and asked to be cuffed and taken in. It took a further eight officers to subdue Saito and cuff him.

Both men were given two years in prison and neither one’s career truly recovered.
