10 Most Overused Moves In Wrestling Today

8. Neckbreakers

Every wrestling contest will feature at least some variation or combination of the neckbreaker. There are tonnes to choose from: swinging ones, inverted ones, elevated ones, corkscrews, slams.

A move purposefully named, designed and executed... to break your opponent's neck.

That should put an end to the match, surely? A resulting cervical fracture, leading to months of lay-off and recovery or, potentially, death. Miraculously, and maddeningly, wrestler's necks are made out of graphene, and are able to continue without any issue.

Neckbreakers should be game-changers, as there are a plethora of inspiring ones out there. Oney Lorcan's somersaulting version with a run-up is a thing of beauty, as is AJ Styles' adaption with a Fireman's Carry. But moves like those must undoubtedly put an end to the contest, or at least set it up.

The manoeuvre should make for a 'blockbuster' of a finish. Today, it is anything but.
