What was once a staple for the quicker and more agile luchadores and cruiserweight wrestlers, is now used by everyone, including the larger 'hoss' athletes.

In most instances, the connection is weak, with the diving wrestling seemingly pushes their target out of the way as they hurl towards the ground. The stakes are significantly lowered when a group of fellow performers are positioned outside the ring, ready and waiting to catch the incoming human missile.

You should feel worried for the performer attempting the move - it is "suicidal" after all - but the only wrestler who manages to raise such concern effectively is Big E with his diving spear, particularly after his scary landing on his head and neck at Battleground 2016.

These frequent aerial assaults have to be diminished and are unlikely to be missed.
