10 Most Overused Moves In Wrestling Today
3. Canadian Destroyer
It should be the ultimate finisher, yet we see it each and every week.
The piledriver variant is associated with TNA/Impact Wrestling star, Petey Williams. The set up the Destroyer, the initiating wrestler grabs hold of a bent-over opponent's midsection. Then, with that person's head tucked between their legs, the performer dives over, flipping into a seated position on the mat, as the victim is flung backwards, with nowhere to go, cracking their skull onto the canvas.
The aim is to spike your opponent on to the top of their head, but it would be more logical to perform a DDT, or a simpler, non-rotating version of the piledriver. Instead, the sunset flip element is added to 'create momentum' and for pure theatrical effect.
No doubt it is flashy and gets a good pop, but surely such a manoeuvre warrants an inevitable three count? Well, not in this day and age, unfortunately, as we see this overused move kicked out of like there is no tomorrow on a weekly basis.
