10 Most Overused Moves In Wrestling Today
2. Cutters
Also technically known as a three quarter facelock bulldog, the purpose of the Cutter is to drive an opponent face-first into the canvas to inflict a knockout blow. To do this, the wrestler performing the manoeuvre reaches back to grab the opponent's head. With the receiver's jaw positioned on his shoulder, the attacker launches himself forward, and/or into the air, to falls backwards.
Originally titled the Ace Crusher and first used by Johnny Ace, the move was adopted and popularised by Diamond Dallas Page in his WCW days, renaming it the Diamond Cutter. DDP was so renowned for using this signature, that its name stuck. So, it wasn't The Undertaker who made him famous.
Of course, its most synonymous user with the slickest application has to be 'The Viper', Randy Orton. Sadly, the contemporary Cutter doesn't appear from outta nowhere. In fact, it's quite the opposite, as you can very much see them coming.
Fittingly, you could describe today's Cutters, in multiple ways, using the acronym, RKO. They're Randy Knock-Offs and Real Killjoys, OK!
