10 Most Overused Moves In Wrestling Today
1. Superkicks
Sweet 'Chin Music' Mother of Mercy.
The Superkick is without question the most overutilized go-to in the wrestling industry today. The high side thrust kick is used as a finisher, a signature, a high spot as well as a transitional move, so you can bet that each match will be a feature at least one of them.
Since Shawn Michael's retirement, the kick has been re-popularised by Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks.
When shots are traded back and forth, with the previous blow miraculously having no significant effect on the recipient, it really dampens the devastating impact the move once had. That's a big problem if you want to present your product as a 'sport'. Watch any MMA contest. If your opponent clocks you on the chin with their foot and with that much velocity and such accuracy, it's lights out for you.
As much wrestling fans do get a 'kick' out of them and appreciate the precision required, they stop being fun if the "Superkick Party" is each and every week. They're likely to take a pass on invitations to any Cutter Congregations or Forearm Festivities too.
