10 Most Patriotic American WWE Wrestlers Ever

1. Hulk Hogan

Is there really any doubt that a man whose theme song is €œReal American€ would be the most patriotic wrestler in WWF/E? Put aside all of the recent troubles Hogan is going through and just look at his Hulkamania run with the company.

Hogan returned to the WWF in 1984 to take down the Iron Sheik (foreign heel #1) and win the WWF Championship, kicking off a four-year title reign. He would battle opponents like Nikolai Volkoff, €œRowdy€ Roddy Piper and Andre The Giant during that run. But Hogan would further solidify his standing as a €œReal American€ in the years that followed.

In 1991, Hogan stood up for America in defeating Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter for the WWF Championship, bringing the title back to the USA. He then would stand up to Yokozuna in 1993, defeating him in a godawful impromptu title match at WrestleMania IX. Upon returning to the WWF in 2002, Hogan would win the WWF World Tag Team Championships with Edge on Independence Day. The following year, he donned a patriotic mask and become the disguised hero Mr. America.

Throughout his career, Hogan was portrayed as a wrestler who embodied everything that€™s good about America, urging kids to say their prayers, train and eat their vitamins. While today is a completely different story, there€™s no denying that Hogan in the prime of his career (and even toward the latter stages of it) was a truly patriotic wrestler.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
