Look up 'using your native stereotype to your advantage' in the dictionary and you'll see a picture of Eddie Guerrero. 'Latino Heat' embraced his roots and always put his Mexican identity front and centre.

WWE focused fans will of course fondly remember his main event status in the 00s when his 'I Lie, I Cheat, I Steal' attitude was his core tactic for winning matches. He took the American stereotype of his countrymen and rather than shy away from it - Mr Guerrero turned it into a fan favourite persona that made him one of the hottest stars of the era. Such was his impact, one could argue that he paved the way in WWE for future Mexican stars to rise to the top like Rey Mysterio Jnr and Alberto Del Rio.

WCW aficionados will also remember that it was Eddie who started the lWo; the Latino World Order. Frustrated with not getting the opportunities afforded to the older, established superstars like Hogan, Hall and Nash, Guerrero led an angry assembly of Mexican brothers into their own stable to force change in the company.

Eddie was one of the best, AND he was one of the best patriots.
