On 7 November, AJ Styles passed the one year landmark as WWE Champion. During those 365 uninterrupted days, he has carried SmackDown on his back as a brand, wrestled countless quality matches and exorcised the demon that was Jinder Mahal's surprise 170 days as champ in 2017.

Styles deserves extra special mention for his status as the most unlikely lengthy reign of the entire PG era. Both Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, similar workhorses who also made a name for themselves outside WWE before working there, were younger when they had their successes with the belt.

Meanwhile, at 41, Styles continues to set the bar for what a working champion should be in wrestling's biggest company.

That there's nobody on Tuesday nights worthy of taking the title from him isn't AJ's fault. That's on WWE, and it's absolutely not why he's been titleholder for a full year. Nah, Styles has been champ because he's a better worker than everyone else, and his versatility means he could hold the belt for another year without fans getting bored.
