If only Daniel Bryan's WWE Title run in 2014 could've been longer. When he bagged the 'richest prize in the game' amidst stunning emotion at WrestleMania XXX, Bryan was one of the best pro wrestlers on the planet, and he looked set to finally fend off those 'B+ player' accusations that, although used in storyline, seemed tinged with reality.

'Mania XXX was a coming out party for Bryan's main event super-stardom. He beat Triple H cleanly in the opener then rode the wave of fan fervour all the way to the headliner to topple another couple of ex-Evolution big boys; that was significant. In a few hours, Bryan beat three of WWE's biggest names of the previous 15 years.

Despite being forced to vacate the belt due to injury just 64 days after winning it, Daniel's victory in New Orleans was so happy that it seemed worth the coming misery. If that sounds bold, that's probably because it is, but just look at how elated the man was when he held both championships aloft and fans poured admiration on him at 'Mania.

10 years after fellow workhorses Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, Daniel Bryan had defied all the odds.
