WWE would like everyone to believe that each World Title switch in company history has been notable, but that's simply not true. Even some of the biggest stars that have passed through the organisation have had either the WWE Title or the old World Heavyweight Championship awkwardly thrust upon them.

A World Title change should be special, yet there have been so many occasions when things just fell flat. Whether these titles were put on the wrong wrestler, the fans just didn't buy what WWE were trying to sell, or the resultant title reign ended in the blink of an eye, both major World Championships have experienced their fair share of pointlessness.

Ultimately, precisely zero of these reigns achieved anything worthwhile. Although WWE's decision-makers obviously believed there was some purpose at the start, all of these stints with the titles ended up being ineffectual. They are shining examples of what can happen when important championships are switched without really thinking things through...
